I am listening to a debate over Tirumala Temple row as I type this. The tone of the debate is sickening. On one side is a TTD official and on the other side, is Ramana Deekshitulu (the force-retired chief priest of Tirumala Temple). The sort of aggression is unwarranted unless something is seriously amiss. Everyone ganged up against the Chief Priest and this reminds me of what KPS Gill said on the suicide of SSP AS Sandhu. I was looking at the electoral numbers for today’s Karnataka Election Results. One of the biggest chest thumping by any party is, we scored these many votes even if we won lesser seats. Why does this happen? Two reasons – 1. Less seats won, but with massive margins. 2. More votes as a loser. The below table tries to make sense of that. Karnataka elections turned much interesting than we anticipated. BJP, at on point, reached 121 seats majority while counting but, slowly, it slid back to 104 seats.
